When : 2015
Places I visited (5): Montevideo, Colonia, Cabo Polonio, Punta Del Este, Punta Del Diablo
Highlights
Cabo Polonio was the best experience within Uruguay. Its hippie and spiritual setting without electricity and running water but sandwiched in between two beaches with maybe just 100 permanent residents causes an experience for any traveller. Freedom.
Punta Del Este was a little more luxury but was enjoyable to party, hit the beach and motorbike around the coastline.
Goods
Uruguay is such a laid back country, its very sleepy and has a warm welcoming approach.
If you want beaches in South America, a collection of them, then Uruguay is a good option. Beaches in Montevideo, Punta Del Este, Punta Del Diabo and Cabo Polonio compliment its chilled lifestyle.
Bads
Uruguay can get a little boring and sometimes be a little expensive. Make the most of your time here, if you want to relax then this is the country for you.
Things to know
It’s fairly easy to get around Uruguay from place to place via bus. All the places mentioned are fairly close to each other. Also, getting from Montevideo to Buenos Aires only takes 9 hours and buses go regularly.
